6 Tips To Get The Most Out Of Invisalign

Are you a user of Invisalign? If so, that's great! There are many advantages that it has over traditional metal braces or brackets. Compared to other conventional options, Invisalign treatment is known to be much less painful and noticeable. However, if you don't care for it properly, you may never get that smile you've always wanted. Here are six tips to get the most out of Invisalign:

1. Clean And Floss Daily

No matter where you learn about Invisalign, this tip is the most important of them all - rinse and floss after every meal you eat. Most people will brush their teeth after eating, but this sometimes isn't enough. By gargling water, you loosen food particles in your teeth. Flossing helps it further by dislodging any particles stuck in between your teeth. Treat your Invisalign as if it were real teeth. Brush it, rinse it, and floss it. The better you are at cleaning it, the more successful your treatment will be. Remember, Invisalign is a plastic aligner and will hold food even after a thorough brushing. It is then vital that you floss and rinse after eating.

2. Wear The Aligners

To get the most out of your aligners, wear them at least 22 hours a day. Only remove the aligners when you're eating, drinking, or playing sports that involve a lot of contacts, such as football. If you still want to wear aligners while playing, buy a mouth guard to protect your aligners and your teeth.

3. Use Chewies

Invisalign will only work if it fits with your teeth. To know if your aligners aren't fitting correctly, feel for air between your teeth and the device. This is where chewies come into play. Chewies acts as a filler between your teeth and the aligners, making sure that it fits properly. Using them several times a day for up to 10 minutes will allow your treatment to work faster.

4. Change Aligners As Told

If your orthodontist has scheduled replacements for your aligners, follow it. Don't wait a few days after or before the scheduled date to replace your aligners. Doing so is harmful to your teeth and can delay your treatment.

5. See Your Orthodontist Regularly

Oral health is essential, and regular visits to your orthodontist will make sure your mouth is in tip-top condition. If you neglect your teeth, you will face many other health problems. The orthodontist will not only clean your mouth for you but will determine if your Invisalign treatment is working or not and will make the necessary adjustments.

6. Use Your Retainers

Once done with the treatment, do not ever ignore your retainers. Retainers are just as important as the Invisaligners themselves. Keep wearing them every single day until instructed by your orthodontist to wear them at night only. It's important to follow your orthodontist's instructions. It will take anywhere between six months to a year for the treatment to work. Don't be surprised if you need a new set during the procedure, as this is normal. However, keep in mind that in the end, you'll be able to smile perfectly again.

Invisalign Comprehensive done once and done properly

Invisalign is one of the most popular treatments in dentistry today and it has revolutionised the way orthodontic treatment is performed worldwide. Everyone knows about Invisalign and every dentist offers Invisalign. However, not all Invisalign is the same. The key is in the planning at the very beginning of treatment. For example, we can now plan treatments digitally in 3D with CBCT x rays, intra oral scans , photographs and facial scans which allows us to plan not only the tooth movement but also the roots. This is simply incredible and provides predictable results first time round. Technology is key to this and at Progressive Dentistry, we have the latest Lumina intra oral scanner, CBCT machine and facial analysis equipment all under one roof.

You are never too old to have Invisalign treatment

It is a very common belief that one is too old for orthodontic teeth straightening treatment. Braces are associated with teenagers and track metal brackets. However, orthodontics is available to everyone and at any age. Our case of the month in July 2026 was a classic Invisalign one to correct crowding, widen the smile line and improve the bite. Our lovely patient hated her smile for decades and was not aware that Invisalign would be suitable. After careful planning and communication, we are able to transform the smile and make our patient feel fantastic!

Invisalign Comprehensive to Close Spaces and Improve the Bite

Can Invisalign really close gaps between the teeth?

One of the most common comments we encounter when discussing Invisalign with our patients is 'can Invisalign really close large gaps between my teeth?'. The reason for this is that most dentists will say that only fixed braces have enough 'force' to close spaces with any certainty. However, with careful planning and using the latest technology available, we can predictably close gaps and improve the bite using Invisalign.

A smile says a thousand words, as the old saying goes. However, if you never smile what does that tell us?

The good news is that a smile transformation is no longer an arduous process which costs the earth, as our case of the month highlights.
