We are delighted to announce that Dr Nissit Patel was a finalist for Practice Principal of the Year for London at this years Private Dentistry Awards 2023. The Private Dentistry Awards is held every year in December to showcase the very best in private dental care throughout the UK. To be nominated as a finalist is a great achievement and testament to the dedication of all of the staff at the practice; after all it is all about the team. 

There was also cause for a double celebration with November marking 14 years as Practice Principal for Dr Nissit Patel. In 2009 the practice was barely open with a dilapidated premises, run on paper and with a poor reputation within the local community. The changes could not be more drastic with improvements made every year. We now boast a modern, fully digital practice with the latest technology including both types of dental laser, CBCT scanner, 2 intra oral scanners, surgical microscope, surgical ultrasonic and much more. Our team consists of two dentists, four dental hygiene/therapists, an endodontist, specialist Maxillofacial Surgeon, facial aesthetics medical practitioner and of course, our amazing Practice Manager and assistants. We will be closed on Friday and Saturday 27th/28th May for a very special reason- we will be attending the wedding of Jenny our excellent hygienist and therapist. Jenny has been with us for over six years and proven to be an invaluable asset to the practice. Her attention to detail is second to none and she is known for her gentle and caring manner. A report has revealed that nearly half of five year olds in Fulham and Hammersmith have tooth decay. The report, which was released by the Children's Oral Health Task Group, showed that 45 percent of five year olds in the borough have decay, a figure which is significantly higher than the London average, which currently stands at 33 percent. Nadeev Pooni, from the Central London NHS Trust, said that it is very important that parents take responsibility for their children's oral health and encourage them to adopt good habits from a very early age.

The Children's Oral Health Taskforce is a new group, which was formed with the aim of identifying and addressing causes of poor oral health. The report made a number of recommendations to try and improve standards of oral health among children, which included campaigning for a consultation on adding fluoride to the water supplies in the area. The most important method of prevention is to ensure regular dental examinations and hygiene treatment. Diet is also crucial and try to avoid sugary snacks and drinks during the day. It is best to keep these treats at mealtimes only. Children of registered parents are seen for an initial consultation free of charge.
