Composite Bonding On Worn Front Teeth

Our case study is one involving cosmetic bonding of the front teeth. Cosmetic bonding is the NON INVASIVE answer to repair worn, fractured or spaced teeth. The technique requires no drilling, no needles and no pain! Our patient was unhappy about her front teeth due to the severe wear present at the edges. This was due to night time grinding, which is a very common problem. Dr Nissit Patel strongly believes in minimally invasive dentistry and therefore ruled out porcelain veneers or similar techniques which remove healthy tooth enamel. Cosmetic bonding was prescribed and the results can be seen below:

Worn teeth, broken teeth, fractured teeth, grinding
Worn front teeth and uneven edges
straight even teeth after cosmetic bonding
Cosmetic bonding and now even, straight teeth!

The treatment was completed in one session using G-aenial composite by GC. This is one of the most advanced composites available which we endorse highly. The process is simple. Here are the steps:

1. The teeth are cleaned and polished. It is advised that you visit Jenny our hygienist prior to cosmetic bonding. If you have considered tooth whitening, then it is best to do this before so that the shade can be matched.

2. The teeth are etched with a special gel to create a good bonding surface and a resin bonding agent is brushed on to the teeth.

3. A highly aesthetic composite is placed in layers to recreate the natural appearance of the teeth.

4. The bite is checked and any necessary adjustments are made.

5. The bonding is polished to a high gloss finish.

6. That's it! Simple but highly effective.

If you have worn teeth, fractured edges or minor spaces present then cosmetic bonding could be for you. Do NOT consider invasive treatments such as porcelain veneers or crowns without first our dental practice in Fulham.

Composite Bonding vs. Porcelain Veneers: Which is Right for Your Smile?

To answer this question, we really need to differentiate the two treatments as they are two different treatment entirely. Composite bonding is an additive process. In simple terms, we carefully sculpt composite resin over the teeth in question. This can be used to treat chipped, fractured, uneven and gappy teeth. Composite can also be used to replace old fillings on front ( or back) teeth. The great advantage of bonding includes:1. Treatment is completed in one visit; an instant smile transformation! 2. Min… CONTINUE READING

The procedure can be used for a number of treatments including closing spaces between teeth especially front teeth.… CONTINUE READING

Composite Bonding On The Upper Front Teeth

Our case of the month for June 2023 involves composite cosmetic bonding on the upper front teeth. Composite bonding is a minimally invasive cosmetic dental treatment which can improve the aesthetics of a tooth or teeth. In most cases, we do not need to remove any healthy tooth structure with the composite being layered upon the tooth. With the advent of modern day dental materials, we are able to create stunning smiles with bonding in just one appointment.… CONTINUE READING

The Dahl Technique for Restoring Worn Front Teeth

Tooth wear is one of the most prevalent dental conditions that we see in practice day to day. It would not be an exaggeration to say that almost 90% of adult patients suffer from some form of tooth wear albeit to varying degree of severity. Minor tooth wear can lead to issues such as sensitivity to hot and cold whereas severe tooth wear can impair everyday function of chewing and mastication. Severe tooth surface loss will also cause a reduction in the occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) which is a measuremen… CONTINUE READING
