Cosmetic Bonding To Repair Teeth - Non Invasive Cosmetic Dentistry

We strongly believe in the most minimally invasive techniques to repair and enhance teeth. One such technique is called cosmetic bonding. Cosmetic bonding involves the addition of highly aesthetic composite filling material to broken, chipped, worn teeth to enhance the overall appearance and provide a strong protective layer. The process is really very simple but involves a great deal of skill and artistry. It is not just a case of simply filling a tooth! The steps involved are:

1. Ensure that the surfaces are clean. A hygiene visit may be required.
2. Polish and sharp edges to ensure a smooth surface.
3. The bonding process begins. This depends on the technique the dentist uses.
4. The shade/ colour of the bonding material is chosen.
5. The material is layered very carefully under strictly isolated conditions.
6. The bonding is then contoured and polished to a high gloss ensuring the bite is correct as well.
7. Complete! Easy as that.

Here is a case that was recently treated at Progressive Dentistry by Dr Nissit Patel using G-aenial composite. BEFORE

Chipped teeth, broken teeth, uneven teeth
Chipped and uneven teeth

AFTER

Straight teeth, even teeth, white teeth
Even and symmetrical teeth- straight after cosmetic bonding!

This is a typical case of teeth that are in need of some attention and care but with a minimal approach. In the dark days of dentistry, porcelain veneers would have been placed. Although they look great, destructive removal of tooth enamel is required which cannot be replaced. This technique involves NO removal of tooth enamel and is kind to the tooth and gums.

With the advent of modern day dental materials, we are able to create stunning smiles with bonding in just one appointment.… CONTINUE READING

Invisalign For Arch Expansion, Teeth Whitening & Cosmetic Teeth Bonding

Our case of the month for August 2022 was a fabulous one! A real smile transformation done correctly. Forget 'Turkey Teeth'! A smile transformation should involve minimal or no biological damage to the teeth and gums to enhance the aesthetic and functional issues. The term 'Turkey Teeth' comes from social media posts where a smile makeover is done over a weekend by hacking away natural healthy tooth structure and placing multiple crowns and veneers. These are often linked together with no means of cleaning … CONTINUE READING

Tooth Wear & Cosmetic Bonding Case Of The Month

Our case of the month for November 2021 was a classic tooth bonding case involving severe tooth wear. Tooth wear is an increasing problem with grinding at night becoming an ever increasing problem coupled with acid in the diet. The combination of these two factors can lead to the softening and dissolving enamel leading to thin edges, chipping, fractures and exposure of the underlying dentine which can be very sensitive. The beauty of cosmetic bonding is that we can treat the wear, protect the teeth and impr… CONTINUE READING
