Dental Implant To Restore Missing Back Teeth

Our case of the month for February is a dental implant case to restore missing back teeth. Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth to restore function, aesthetics and prevent further problems of shrinkage and teeth movement. In our case of the month, our patient had lost some back teeth and there was a baby tooth remaining which was about to fall out. This severely impacted on her eating and everyday function. Dental implants were the best way to replace the missing teeth with a fixed and secure final end result. Here are some before photographs:

Missing molar teeth
Missing back teeth and a failing baby tooth (with the large metal filling)
Unable to chew food
No contact on the baby tooth or the back teeth- lack of function

After careful planning, 3 dental implants were placed. These were placed in conjunction with CT scans and digital planning. This is how dental implants look after healing:

Once the healing has been established (osseointegration), the new teeth can be made.

Dental implant crowns restoring function fully

As can be seen, the dental implants have replaced the missing teeth seamlessly and our patient is now able to eat and chew with ease. Dental implants are well worth the investment for such a life changing difference. The dental implants were placed and restored by Dr Nissit Patel using Astra Tech Osseospeed implants.
