Dental Implants- 10 key factors

Dental implants are the best way to replace missing teeth. Whether you have one, several or all missing teeth, dental implants are the gold standard replacement.

Why Are Dental Implants So Good?

1. They are made from titanium, which is a bio compatible material and has been used within the human body for many years.

2. Implants will restore the function of the missing tooth/teeth.

3. Osseointegration (the growth of the surrounding bone around the implant) means that implants cannot be removed.

4. Implants can never decay.

5. They will prevent further bone loss in the sites of the missing tooth/teeth and preserve facial structure.

6. Dental implants will prevent movement of the adjacent and opposing teeth in unwanted directions.

7. Aesthetically, they can look just like natural teeth.

8. The implant crown/ bridge/ denture can be made so that it is retrievable. This is vital in terms of maintenance.

9. Dental implants can be cleaned in the same way as natural teeth.

10. They will never need a root canal treatment!

The process is straight forward in the hands of an experienced and skilled practitioner.

The advantages are that there is no cement used which therefore eliminates any issue of excess cement causing gum problems. The crown can also be removed easily, if necessary, by unscrewing.

Composite Bonding vs. Porcelain Veneers: Which is Right for Your Smile?

To answer this question, we really need to differentiate the two treatments as they are two different treatment entirely. Composite bonding is an additive process. In simple terms, we carefully sculpt composite resin over the teeth in question. This can be used to treat chipped, fractured, uneven and gappy teeth. Composite can also be used to replace old fillings on front ( or back) teeth. The great advantage of bonding includes:1. Treatment is completed in one visit; an instant smile transformation! 2. Min… CONTINUE READING

Social 6 lingual brace, whitening and bonding. The truly invisible brace

One of our favourite treatments for cosmetic teeth straightening is the Social 6 lingual brace. This brace is the truly invisible brace as it is placed on the inside of the teeth. Even though lingual braces have been around for many decades, there is little awareness of the system as the treatment in the past has been kept within the realm of specialist orthodontists and the costs have been incredibly high compared to conventional braces. Now for complex cases, lingual brace treatment is an extremely diffic… CONTINUE READING

Changing a single front tooth crown

Dental crowns are one of the best ways to protect badly damaged teeth. In most cases, crowns are needed on back teeth that may have needed a root canal treatment. For front teeth, the most common reason for the need of a crown is due to trauma . This could be from a childhood playground accident or a sports injury for example. Ouch! If a front tooth crown was placed many years ago, over time there will have been changes in the mouth including the level of the gums and the shape and colour of the teeth. This… CONTINUE READING
