One of our key principles at Progressive Dentistry is to adopt minimally invasive procedures with all aspects of our treatment.
Recently, Martin Kelleher Consultant dentist at King's College London made the news by pointing out that some 'cosmetic dentists' were identifying diseases such as 'porcelain deficiency' and excess of tooth enamel. Of course, these are fabricated conditions but he was making a serious point.
Removing tooth enamel removes the protective layer of the tooth which is the strongest tissue in the human body. This is turn can lead to future problems such as tooth fracture, root canal treatment and even tooth removal.
This is why we promote minimally invasive technique to create beautiful smiles.
A smile transformation can be done without any enamel removal. How?
Firstly aligning teeth to achieve the best position using our rapid orthodontic techniques, then bleaching to whiten and brighten and finally composite bonding to repair those imperfections and achieve symmetry.
