Smile Transformation Involving Lingual Braces, Teeth Whitening and Porcelain Veneers

Our case of the month for May involves a stunning smile transformation with a combination treatment involving lingual braces, teeth whitening and porcelain veneers. Here is a photograph of the initial appearance:

A pre treatment smiling photograph

Here we can see slightly crooked front teeth and short lateral incisor teeth (second ones from the front). These teeth had porcelain veneers which were very bulky as the teeth were set behind the central teeth. This never works very well as the overall aesthetic result is simply masking the fact that the teeth are in the incorrect position. The result is that the veneers are bulky and bulbous. The shade is slightly on the yellow side, what we in the dental world would call A3 in general. After we worked our magic, here is the final result:

A wonderful new smile

After a short course of lingual braces, we were able to straighten the teeth and move the lateral incisor teeth into the correct position. For those of you who are unaware of lingual braces, these are fitted on the inside of the teeth. Hence this is the only truly invisible brace. Once we were happy with the positions, teeth whitening was carried out using Philips ZOOM whitening. This process can be done in the chair followed by a take home kit or just at home using the kit for 14 days. Finally, the veneers were removed, we used our incredible Waterlase i Plus laser to re contour the gum line due to uneven levels and new veneers were made. We do not photoshop our photos and hence the slight inflammation of the gum line on the left side! This photograph was taken just after fitting of the veneers. If you would like a stunning new smile this year, you have found the right practice! Please contact us today. Treatment completed by Dr Nissit Patel. Composite Bonding vs. Porcelain Veneers: Which is Right for Your Smile?

To answer this question, we really need to differentiate the two treatments as they are two different treatment entirely. Composite bonding is an additive process. In simple terms, we carefully sculpt composite resin over the teeth in question. This can be used to treat chipped, fractured, uneven and gappy teeth. Composite can also be used to replace old fillings on front ( or back) teeth. The great advantage of bonding includes:1. Treatment is completed in one visit; an instant smile transformation! 2. Min… CONTINUE READING

Social 6 lingual brace, whitening and bonding. The truly invisible brace

One of our favourite treatments for cosmetic teeth straightening is the Social 6 lingual brace. This brace is the truly invisible brace as it is placed on the inside of the teeth. Even though lingual braces have been around for many decades, there is little awareness of the system as the treatment in the past has been kept within the realm of specialist orthodontists and the costs have been incredibly high compared to conventional braces. Now for complex cases, lingual brace treatment is an extremely diffic… CONTINUE READING

Composite veneers vs Porcelain veneers. Which is best?

One of the most topical subjects at the moment is the debate between composite and porcelain for dental restorations. In terms of cosmetic dentistry, this equates to the use of composite veneers and porcelain veneers. It is important to note that composite veneers can either be made by a laboratory or placed free hand by the dentist in the chair. Porcelain veneers can only be made by a dental laboratory or within a dental practice that has the necessary technology such as computer aided design and a milling… CONTINUE READING

In many cases, E-Max porcelain veneers will give the best aesthetic and functional results. This is especially the case when teeth already have been filled and are now starting to show discolouration or are worn and chipped.
