Waterlase iPlus Laser Treatment Used For Crown Lengthening

As our name suggests, we are progressive and forward thinking. Time does not stand still and neither does dental technology. After a great deal of thought and research, we have invested in the amazing Waterlase iPlus 2.0 dental laser. This incredible, state of the art technology allows us to perform dentistry that simply was not possible before. For example, crown lengthening.

Crown Lengthening

Crown lengthening is often required on heavily broken-down teeth to increase the height of the tooth so that a new crown can be placed. In the past, this treatment involved surgery with the use of a scalpel to cut the gum, a drill to remove bone and stitches to hold the tissue together. The area would then need to left to heal for six weeks prior to starting the crown treatment. Not anymore. The Waterlase iPlus laser allows us to carefully re contour the gum and bone tissue, expose more tooth for the crown and start the crown preparation on the same day. There is minimal bleeding, no need for any cutting, no stitches and minimal pain. The new crown is typically back within 2 weeks ready to fit. Hey presto, new tooth!

Just take a look below at a recent case of a crown lengthening procedure:

We used the Waterlase iPlus laser treatment to lengthen the tooth and provide a greater surface for a new crown. Minimal if any bleeding

If you have been told that a tooth cannot be saved because there simply is not enough tooth remaining, please wait before removing it. There may be a way to save the tooth using this incredible technology.

Ceramic Crown Treatment For A Complicated Cracked Tooth

Our case of the month for July 2021 is quite a complex one involving multiple ceramic crowns after an accident during the first lockdown. Our patient, Xavier, had a cycling accident where he cracked 3 of his front teeth. Now with any trauma case, there is a certain way to handle the situation and it is important not to rush into a specific treatment. The reason being is that once the teeth and gums have been damaged, the consequences may not be apparent for several weeks or months. Hence the use of provisio… READ MORE
