A recent study by the European Commission has recommended phasing out the use of dental amalgam owing to mercury's negative impact on the environment. The study also stated that some dentists are ''reluctant to change their current practice and invest in new equipment to handle mercury free fillings''.

Our case of the month for September is a smile transformation involving porcelain veneers, adhesive bridgework, tooth whitening and composite bonding.
