When using the home teeth whitening kit, impressions of your teeth are taken and our lab then fabricates vacuum formed trays which fit very closely over the teeth. Small amounts of dental bleach is then applied into the trays and these are then worn for an hour each day or overnight. Typically, 10-14 days is all that is required to achieve a whiter smile.

In chair bleaching is where we carefully apply higher concentrations of dental bleach onto the teeth and activate the gel with a light. Typically, this would involve multiple applications and a long session in the chair. However, newer systems mean that we can perform in chair bleaching in approximately 20 minutes. This is great for that special occasion or event when instant results are required.

At Progressive Dentistry, we will always supply a take home kit with any tooth whitening procedure. We believe that a better result can be achieved, with less sensitivity and longer lasting results with the take home kits. A combination treatment of initial in chair bleaching followed by use of the take home kit will often give the best results long term.
