Recent studies from the USA have revealed that dental floss is not particularly great for you. Here is an article written yesterday in the Telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sci...
To be perfectly honest, we are not that surprised. Our stance has always been to use interdental brushes as the first line of defence and floss when the spaces between the teeth are too tight.
Interdental Brushes or Dental Flossing?
|
Interdental BrushesInterdental brushes clean the embrasure space - the triangle of space between teeth - and the sides of the teeth at the same time. It is important to use the correct size brush and this is where your dentist or dental hygienist can help. If the brushes are too small, they simply clean air. Too large and they will not fit through and will cause trauma. |
Water FlossersWe are also fans of the latest generation of water flossers such as Philips Airfloss Pro. These are a great adjunct to interdental brushes. If in doubt, consult your dentist or dental hygienist. |
