Porcelain Veneers To Transform A Smile

Case of the Month November 2023 - Smile Transformation Using Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are one of the most popular ways of transforming a smile. Veneers are outer facings that cover the tooth/teeth to repair issues such as chips, fractures, asymmetry, discolouration or protect old fillings. The transformation of a smile can be life changing. A smile is one of the first things that is evident on a person and this can radiance confidence and self-belief. The treatment for veneers is not a straightforward one and requires careful planning and execution to achieve an outstanding result. Our case of the month highlights the beauty of this treatment and the process that is involved.

Cosmetic Dentistry - A Basic Guide To Get You Started

Nothing puts a frown on your face more than a set of misaligned, cracked, yellowed, broken, gummy, or missing teeth. Something as simple as talking or laughing may cause you to feel self-conscious if you’re worried about the state of your teeth, so in that regard, one of the best ways to bring back your confidence is to undergo cosmetic dentistry. This typically concentrates on keeping your teeth healthy and free from degeneration as well as oral diseases, all while enhancing the appearance of your teeth and gums. Cosmetic dentistry also gives you a better bite with the help of treatments such as teeth bleaching, porcelain veneers, and even dentures.

5 Ways To Keep Invisalign Aligners Clean

Years ago, those looking to straighten their teeth only had one option: metal braces. Today, however, Invisalign is becoming increasingly available to the public. People are now choosing removable aligners over metal braces because they don't irritate the teeth and gums. Not only are they more comfortable to use but they are significantly easier to maintain. Your mouth is a part of your body that gets dirty throughout the day, so these plastic aligners must be washed daily.

Here are five ways to keep your aligners immaculate:

Lingual Brace And Cosmetic Bonding

Our case of the month for August is a beautiful one involving a very natural smile transformation using minimally invasive dentistry. For those of you who have not read any of our case of the month articles, we believe in the least invasive techniques to produce stunning smiles. After all, we are all born with teeth that should last a life time. If the healthy tooth enamel is drilled away for cosmetic reasons, the tooth may not last a life time which would be a travesty. Our client was told to have a set of 6 veneers to produce the 'perfect smile'. Understandably, she was not happy with this solution which would mean cutting all of the enamel off the front teeth. Her aims were that of a natural smile rather than perfection and a treatment that involved keeping her teeth intact. The presenting situation showed uneven, crowded front teeth with some spacing present:

How to Find The Best Cosmetic Dentist

There are many reasons why you might be considering going to see a cosmetic dentist. Maybe you've chipped a tooth and want to have it repaired, perhaps you're thinking of getting a whitening procedure to get rid of stains, or maybe you've finally decided to take the plunge and get braces for the slightly misaligned teeth that have been bothering you for years. Or, perhaps you're in need of a full smile makeover. Whatever your reasons, there are numerous things to consider before choosing a cosmetic dentist. Here are our top tips for finding the right one.

Ask For Recommendations

When looking for a cosmetic dentist, one of the best ways to find the right one is to ask for recommendations from friends and family. It's highly unlikely that somebody who knows you is going to recommend a dentist that they had a bad experience with, after all. In addition, you can ask for referrals online, for example on social media, where people are usually all too happy to share details of cosmetic dentistry services that they'd recommend. Don't forget to check out online reviews as well.

Ask Questions

Once you've found a cosmetic dentist who appears to offer all the services that you need and has a good reputation, it's important that you ask as many questions as you need to make sure that you're making the right choice. For example, bear in mind that very few dental schools provide continuing education in cosmetic dentistry, so it's a good idea to find out what kind of post-graduate training your potential new dentist has undergone. Remember that any good, reputable cosmetic dentist will be more than happy to show you their certifications and achievements upon request; they may even have a copy on display at the surgery.

Check Out Before and After Photos

A skilled dentist will always have examples of their best work to show to any prospective new patients. Before you go ahead and make an appointment for a consultation, it's a good idea to ask if you can take a look at the before and after photos of past patients. Today, you can often find these readily available to view online at the dentist's website or social media page. This will give you a good idea of what to expect and showcase exactly how skilled your potential new cosmetic dentist is.

Book a Consultation

All good cosmetic dentists will offer a consultation for a small fee or even free of charge; this gives you a chance to explain your needs and requirements to them. Then, they will be able to explain all the different factors of your treatment to you, from what to expect in the chair to how much it is likely to cost. It's important that you don't rush through the consultation; good communication at this point is essential to help you achieve the best results.

Taking the right steps to find a good cosmetic dentist like Progressive Dentistry is important for the successful restoration of your smile.
