Dental Implant And Ceramic Crown Treatment

Our case of the month for June involves dental implants and ceramic crowns. Dental implants are without question, the very best option to replace teeth. Whether you are missing one tooth, several teeth or all of your teeth, dental implants should be considered as the first line option. In the past, replacing teeth with implants was a long, drawn out procedure and costly too. However, with the advances in modern dentistry and techniques, the treatment can be delivered quickly, with minimum fuss and is affordable. Our case involves replacing a missing molar with an Astra Tech dental implant and placing an Empress E-max crown on the adjacent tooth. Please view the before and after photos to see what can be achieved:

Invisalign, Dental Implants, Ceramic Crowns & Cosmetic Bonding

Our case of the month for May 2013 is a combination case of orthodontics using Invisalign clear removable braces, dental implants, ceramic crowns and cosmetic bonding. Due to quite severe tooth wear due to grinding at night and general issues with the condition of her teeth, our patient sought treatment that was designed to treat all the major considerations but with a minimal emphasis. Initially Invisalign was used to straighten the teeth and place them in the optimal position for the planned dental implant. After this, all ceramic crowns were placed on badly damaged teeth and composite bonding was done on chipped front teeth. Overall, a fantastic result and a delighted patient. Dental Implants: Do I Really Need to Replace My Missing Molar Tooth?

Our previous article focused on dental implants replacing several teeth. This case demonstrates the replacement of one missing tooth at the back, a molar tooth. This is a very common situation. You may ask: 'why do I need to replace a tooth at the back of my mouth. It is not visible and I don't really miss it.'

However, there are a number of reasons why you should replace missing molar teeth:

1. Molar teeth are designed for chewing food. If you have a missing tooth especially a missing molar, then the force of chewing is placed upon other teeth. This can lead to further damage.

2. Replacing the missing molar will prevent the opposite tooth from moving in a vertical direction; this is called over eruption and can cause significant problems with the bite.

3. Replacing the tooth will prevent the adjacent teeth from drifting and tilting.

4. Dental implants prevent further bone loss. This will prevent a sunken look in the future years.

5. Self-esteem is dramatically improved with a full set of teeth.

Below is a case of a missing molar tooth, expertly replaced by Dr Nissit Patel:

Finding the Right Fit: Choosing a Dental Implant Dentist

Dental implants are the best way to replace missing teeth. There are many dental implants to choose from and many dentists that provide and beyond. However, how do you choose a dental implant dentist? There are 3 simple questions that should be asked:

1. Level of training and experience

2. Evidence of case studies and testimonials

3. Evidence behind the proposed implant

1. Dr Nissit Patel has a wealth of experience and has trained at the most advanced institutes and universities. He has achieved the title of Master of Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics with distinction, awarded by King's College, London.

Dental Implants- Why Follow The PIP Scandal

Dental implants are the gold standard to replace missing teeth so why follow the PIP scandal? Whether you have one, several or all missing teeth, dental implants can provide you with a long lasting and natural solution. If you are considering dental implants, we urge you to research which dental implants are going to be used.

Only choose a dental implant system which is backed by extensive research over many years. Look at the websites of the companies and read about the research involved in the dental implants and their latest products.

We are strongly against techniques that are not evidence based. It may be tempting to choose an implant that is 1/3 or 1/2 the price which your own dentist offers, but we would urge you to choose a well known company, a skilled and experienced dentist and a dental practice that offers personal care dedicated to your needs.

Dr Nissit Patel only uses the very best materials in all aspects of dentistry including dental implants. For a free quick consultation or chat on dental implants, call us on 0207 7311162.

Only a natural looking tooth would suffice. Did you know that canine teeth are extremely important teeth in relation to your bite? In many cases, these teeth provide the guidance to your bite and sliding movements. Therefore, the treatment in this case had to be planned very carefully. Below are the before and after photographs.

Dental Implants - The Facts

Dental implants are the recognised gold standard to replacing missing teeth. The dental implant actually replaces the lost root of the tooth, or the foundation. This is possible due to phenomenon called 'osseointegration'. This process is where the jaw bone is actually able to grow around and attach to the implant creating an incredibly strong bond. Once this bond has occurred, then a new tooth can be fabricated which will attach into the implant. Sounds simple? Well, in simple cases yes. If there is plenty of good quality jaw bone and the absence of any other dental issues, then having a dental implant can be a stress-free procedure.

Choosing The Best Dentist

However, it is vital to choose a dentist who is experienced and who has spent a great deal of time training in the field of dental implants. Not every dentist will have the proper training to carry out this procedure, so it is important to ask about the qualifications received. Dental implants require a great deal of planning. This will involve analysing models of your teeth, dental x rays and photographs. CT scans can be of massive value especially when vital anatomical structures need to be identified. After careful analysis, a treatment plan can be drawn up and discussed.

The Costs Of Dental Implants

Each dental practice will have their own fee for dental implants. In general, a single dental implant including the crown on top should be in the region of £1800-2500. Any less and the question must be asked about the quality of implant, crown and value of the overall procedure.

Dental Implants And Maintenance

Implants must be looked after just like natural teeth. Hygiene is crucial. Although dental implants cannot decay, they can develop gum disease. This is called peri-implantitis. Special techniques and cleaning procedures are required to stabilise this disease. If left untreated, this can lead to the loss of the implant.
